Dean and Dave are actively beginning to plan for implementation early next year. This will allow everyone to stay current on the Iron Mountain Quarry issue as well as the Hood Canal project as it moves into full swing impacting our lives on the peninsula. Thanks to all of our supporters who have encouraged us to pursue this project. The community will be better because of you.

The current community concern with the impending Iron Mountain quarry is a good example of how a digital village could help keep everyone informed in a much more consistent and timely manner. Many of you are getting many duplicate emails from belonging to various organizations in the community. Had a digital village been operating at the time, much of the confusion and duplication would have been avoided and we would all be on the same page. In the fall (October), we will be regrouping to re-kindle our efforts in bringing this new communication tool to our community. It is too important not to!

(Dean and Dave have been sidetracked with a couple of health and family issues and, as such, have not been able to spend needed time on this project. We plan on convening a special meeting of all the project supporters in the near future to have dialogue about advancing the project into the community and how to best go about moving it forward.)

Seeing a “virtual page” for every club, group, association, service group, and merchant in the community, allowing interaction among members

Being part of a new all-inclusive communication system that adds value to our community and property.

Local residents Dave Pike and Dean Mosier are exploring the possibility of bringing this new technology to Port Ludlow. This is an internet based system that essentially creates a new way for all elements of the community to exchange information in an interactive website. This "digital village" has room for every club, organization, community service group, health service organization, merchant, homeowner association, etc. to post information for the community at large as well as their own constituents. Residents will have the ability to create a personal calendar with only the events they are interested in. They will also be able to print coupons made available from merchants who choose to advertise via this site. Use of the site would be free to residents and community service organizations.
